A day late..

Today I’m thankful for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc

For the lessons learned in these last 6 years. For the friendships made, strengthened, and sustained.  For the history on which it stands, that serves as a daily reminder that greatness and excellence is attainable. For my chapter. For my prophytes. For my neos. For my old-heads  For my LBs, ABs, and sands all over.

Today I’m thankful for my F.E.E.T.

Felicia, Edward, Elizabeth, and Thomas are the names of my grandparents. I like to call them my feet, because it is upon their legacies that I stand. I never met my paternal grandmother (Elizabeth) but I was named after her and I met my paternal grandfather only once before he passed. My maternal grandparents, are still alive, and I’m thankful for the many experiences I’ve shared with them. The decisions made by these four individuals ultimately led me to where I am today. If they hadn’t met, fell in love ( or temporary like in some cases) then my parents would have never come to be. Furthermore, if they hadn’t raised ( or not raised) the people that were to become my parents the way they did, i wouldn’t have the morals, values, and traditions that I have today. One of my favorite quotes says “To whom much is given; much is required…The well that i drink from I did not dig. I am the beneficiary of the toil and sacrifice of all the named and unnamed ones who came before me…”  Simply stated, my F.E.E.T. paved the way for me to walk, and for that I’m grateful.

I’m a day behind but this will be Day 1’s post. Today I’m thankful for God.

Like they do in church, “I wanna start by giving honor to God…” Not to get too preachy, but this thanks is more than standard tho. While I may not always do/say/think things that are pleasing and acceptable to Him, he’s never turned his back on me. I remember my freshman year of high school  I said i’d buy a car, graduate, and go off to college and while this may sound simple, it all came to pass. That, along with every other thing I’ve ever spoken into existence. There’s a lot I’d like to do, and I’m thankful that He sees and listens, and provides me with the necessary things I need to achieve.
